BATON ROUGE, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's cross country
went 4-for-4 in producing faster 5,000-meter times Friday at the LSU Invitational.
India Mastin,
Amber Parks,
Reagan Collins and
Jalyn Jenkins were a collective four minutes faster
than they were six days earlier at the Nicholls Invitational.
Collins led the way with an improvement of slightly more than three minutes and 16 seconds.
For the third time in as many
meets this season, Mastin was the Gold Nuggets' fastest finisher.
Her time of 21:21.3 placed her 28th out of 55 runners.
Collins was 37th in 23:11.4,
Parks was 41st in 23:41.7, and Jenkins was 49th in 25:32.2.
XULA did not qualify for team scoring
because it had only four entries.
LSU sophomore Lorena Rangel Batres
was first in 17:17.7, nearly five seconds faster than runner-up Stellah Kiptui of Alcorn State.
Seven teams scored; LSU won with 20 points, and Nicholls was second with 67.
Next for XULA's women and men will be
the Mississippi College Fall Festival Oct. 22 at Clinton, Miss.
