SAN ANTONIO, Texas —
Luci Schroeder scored in the 77th minute Thursday to break a tie and give Xavier University of Louisiana a 2-1 Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer victory against Our Lady of the Lake.
The Gold Nuggets (7-3 overall, 7-1 RRAC) won their fourth in a row — a record for this first-year varsity program — and remained atop the conference standings.
XULA ended the five-game unbeaten streak of the Saints (6-3-1, 5-2-1), who allowed one goal in their previous five games and were 4-0-1 during that time.
It was 1-all at halftime after
Amora Altmon scored for XULA in the 15th minute, then Vivianna Gutierrez scored for OLLU in the 17th minute.
XULA did not allow a second-half goal for the third consecutive game. Winning goalkeeper
Theresa Wiesiolek played all 90 minutes had five saves.
