Red River Athletic Conference standings
SAN ANTONIO, Texas —
Ana Barragan scored in the 57th minute Saturday to give Texas A&M-San Antonio
a 1-0 Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
The Gold Nuggets (7-4 overall, 7-2)
dropped from first place in the RRAC to a tie for third place with Louisiana Christian.
LSU-Alexandria, a 6-1 winner at Huston-Tillotson, moved into first, with Texas A&M-Texarkana
in second. LSUA is 7-1 in the conference, and TAMUT is 8-2.
The Jaguars (6-1-3 overall, 5-1-3 RRAC)
improved their unbeaten streak to eight games — that includes three ties —
and snapped XULA's four-game win streak. TAMUSA leads the RRAC this season in fewest goals allowed — four
— and has not allowed more than one goal in any game.
Winning goalkeeper Maram Abdeljaber made eight saves. XULA had advantages of 14-7 in shots
and 9-4 in shots on goal. The Gold Nuggets produced all but one of their shots in the final 53 minutes.
