Red River Athletic Conference standings
METAIRIE, La. —
Julia de Souza and
Amora Altmon provided the offense Thursday, and many more
delivered on defense in Xavier University of Louisiana's 2-0
Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer victory against Houston-Victoria.
The Gold Nuggets (8-4 overall, 8-2 RRAC)
are tied for second in the conference with Texas A&M-Texarkana, which was idle Thursday.
Both are a half-game behind LSU-Alexandria, 8-1 in the RRAC after its eighth consecutive victory,
a 4-1 home decision against Our Lady of the Lake.
XULA will finish the regular season
with three RRAC games: 9 a.m. Sunday at home (Lafreniere Park) against Huston-Tillotson,
then next week at LSUA and Louisiana Christian.
The Gold Nuggets got the only goal they needed
when de Souza scored and Altmon assisted in the 28th minute. Altmon scored in the 38th
minute with de Souza assisting.
Altmon and
Luci Schroeder have a XULA-leading 10
goals apiece, and de Souza is third with six goals.
Freshman goaltender
Luisa Bella got the victory and extended to 260 her active streak of consecutive
minutes without allowing a goal. The shutout was XULA's third this season.
Joining Altmon, Bella, de Souza and Schroeder in XULA's starting
lineup were

Millicent Owusu and
Amelia Thompson.
The Jaguars (5-5-5, 3-4-3) lost their third straight.
NOTES: It was the first time
this season that XULA won despite a scoreless second half . . . It was the fourth time
in the last five games that the Gold Nuggets did not allow a second-half goal . . .
This was a Pink Out game for breast cancer awareness, and XULA players and coaches pregame
displayed "I play for" signs for cancer patients and survivors . . . Weather at kickoff:
