NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana and Our Lady of the Lake will decide the Red River Athletic Conference women's volleyball regular-season championship in 7 p.m. CDT matches Wednesday and Thursday at OLLU.
Venue will be Mabee Gymnasium in San Antonio, Texas.
The matches will be the regular-season finale for the Gold Nuggets (17-5 overall, 14-0 RRAC) and the Saints (16-11, 13-1). If XULA wins either match, the Gold Nuggets will win the championship. OLLU needs two victories to repeat as regular-season champion.
XULA seeks its 12th regular-season championship in 13 years and its second in the RRAC, which it joined in 2021. The Gold Nuggets' statistical leaders include
Kennedy Wade with 247 kills,
Taylor Parker with a .373 hitting percentage and 87 blocks,
Bengisu Kazazlar with 687 assists and 42 aces and
Ruxandra Flueras with 263 digs.
The Saints' statistical leaders include Mia Francis with 299 kills and 25 aces, Madalyn Gonzalez with a .316 hitting percentage, Lauren Reynard with 962 assists, Tina Trevino with 456 digs and Allison Mata with 38 blocks.
OLLU beat XULA 2-of-3 times in 2022, all in New Orleans. The Saints won both regular-season matches in three sets, then the Gold Nuggets rallied from a 13-9 fifth-set deficit in the title match of the RRAC Tournament.
XULA will play host to the RRAC Tournament Nov. 10-11 and is assured of a first-round bye in the six-team, single-elimination event.
