NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana won 13 events, eight by its women,
and qualified five athletes for NAIA indoor nationals Friday in the
season-opening New Orleans Triangular Classic, a track and field meet at Joe Brown Park/Victory Stadium.
The venue was outdoors, but times and distances were used in
qualification for NAIA indoor nationals Feb. 29-March 2 at Brookings, S.D.
XULA's qualifiers for nationals were:

Kylar Coleman, A-qualifying time of 8.80 seconds
in the women's 60-meter hurdles.
•
Fedjine Bell, B-time of 58.49 in the women's 400.
• Leojai Hibbert, B-distance of 5.53 meters/18 feet, 1 3/4 inches in the women's long jump.
•
Winston Young, B-time of 48.77 in the men's 400.
• Jaheene Bell, B-time of 49.10 in the men's 400.
Coleman,
Fedjine Bell, Hibbert and
Winston Young won the events in which they qualified for nationals.
Hibbert also placed first in the high jump and pentathlon.
XULA's men and women will return to Joe Brown Jan. 12
for the next meet, New Orleans Triangular 2. Same format — a meet outdoors whose times and
distances can be used to qualify for NAIA indoor nationals.
