XULA rowers earn 3rd, 4th on final day of Head of the Oklahoma

        OKLAHOMA CITY — Xavier University of Louisiana rowers concluded their varsity debut with third- and fourth-place finishes Sunday morning at the Head of the Oklahoma regatta.
        The Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets combined for 11 top-10 finishes in two days.
        In the mixed open 4x, Deon Arnold, Hailey Journet and Margo Davis placed third in 25 minutes, 53.666 seconds. Then in the mixed open 8+, Victoria Duffey, Taylor Kentish, Brandon King, Mekhi Akonnor, Camryn Brown, Diamond Smith, Kamryn Days, Paige Walls and Nyla Archibold (coxswain) placed fourth in 19:46.314.
        Next for XULA will be the Louisiana State Rowing Championships Nov. 15 in New Orleans. XULA, LSU, Northwestern State and host Tulane will compete on the New Orleans Inner Harbor Channel, also known as the Industrial Canal. Venue address is 6001 France Road, zip 70126.
        XULA rowed as a club program the past two academic years. XULA varsity rowing is the first for men and women at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
