NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Lejaune George is the Red River Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in men's track for the first time in his career.
        The RRAC announced Tuesday that George won for April 10-16.
        George — a freshman from Zachary, La., and a graduate of Zachary High School — won the 1,500-meter run in 4 minutes, 5.57 seconds in the Southeastern Strawberry Relays at Hammond, La. Sixteen competed, and George finished ahead of 13 from NCAA Division I. George was 11th in the 800 in 2:04.65.
        XULA is a longtime NAIA member.
        George was an RRAC Runner of the Week in cross country in September.
        Next for XULA's men and women will be the RRAC Championships April 28-29 at San Antonio, Texas. Antonian High School's Ferrara Stadium — 6425 West Ave., zip code 78213 — will be the venue.
