Results
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana's
Damien Trahan cleared 2.04 meters/6 feet, 8 1/4 inches Saturday in the men's high jump at the Samford Open indoor track and field meet and qualified for NAIA nationals.
Trahan placed fourth in the event and met the NAIA's B-standard of 2.02 meters/6 feet, 7 1/2 inches.
NAIA nationals will be Feb. 29-March 2 at Brookings, S.D.
XULA had three other top-5 finishes:
Kynnedy Turner in the women's 200-meter dash (fourth place, 25.37 seconds),
Ovane Williams in the men's high jump (fifth, 1.94 meters/6 feet, 4 1/4 inches) and
Seth Alexander in the men's long jump (fifth, 6.78 meters/22 feet, 3 inches).
The meet was XULA's third of the outdoor season. Next for the Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets will be New Orleans Triangular 2 Friday at Joe Brown Park/Victory Stadium. That venue is outdoors, but times and distances can be used in qualification for NAIA indoor nationals.
