METAIRIE, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana men's soccer won 5-0 Thursday
against Texas College — the fifth consecutive shutout victory at home for the Gold Rush.
It was the first of four straight home
games for the Gold Rush (5-3-1 overall, 4-2 RRAC). The XULA men will play Jarvis Christian
at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lafreniere Park. All XULA soccer home games offer free admission.
XULA has shut out all three home opponents
this season. The second-year program is 9-1 at home all-time with eight shutouts and a 27-3 advantage in goals.
Gustavo Oliveira and
Leo Dutra scored
two goals apiece for the Gold Rush. Goalkeeper
Breno Zanolla earned his second shutout
this season.
Dutra, in his first XULA season,
scored twice for the second consecutive game. Dutra scored zero goals in the first seven games.
Texas College (3-7, 1-6) lost its
third in a row.
XULA will honor seniors between games of the Jarvis Christian doubleheader Saturday:
Julio Gruba,
Leonardo Menzen and Oliveira of the Gold Rush, then Theresa Wiesiolek, Britni Belmonte, Gabriela Gonzalez, Grete Nelson,
Julia de Souza and Luci Schroeder of the Gold Nuggets.
