2024 Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer standings
SHREVEPORT, La. — The shutout streak ended, but Xavier University of Louisiana's winning streak in women's soccer is alive and well.
The Gold Nuggets scored the first three goals and defeated Red River Athletic Conference opponent LSU-Shreveport 4-2 Thursday. It was XULA's fifth consecutive victory, tying the school record set last season. Four of the victories in the current streak were on the road.
      Â
Samira Roper scored twice — she leads the team with nine goals this season — and
Luci Schroeder and
Julia de Souza scored one goal each. Roper scored multiple goals for the third time in the last four games.
      Â
Theresa Wiesiolek got the goalkeeping decision.
XULA never trailed and led 3-0 after de Souza's goal in the 63rd minute. Diana Godines and Juliana Anchondo scored for LSUS (7-3, 4-1), which ended XULA's streak of consecutive shutout victories at four. The Pilots, however, allowed their second-most goals in a home game in the last six seasons. LSUS won 3-0 at XULA a year ago.
XULA (5-3 overall, 4-0 RRAC) will stay on the road and play Texas A&M-Texarkana at 1 p.m. Saturday.
       In other RRAC games Thursday:
       • LSU-Alexandria won 13-0 at Texas College.
       • Louisiana Christian won 4-0 at Jarvis Christian.
       • Texas A&M-Texarkana, playing at home, won 9-0 against North American.
