        NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Mbali Langa and McKenna Wheatley are the No. 2 NAIA women's doubles seed for this week's ITA Cup Championships.
        The four-day event will begin Thursday at Rome Tennis Center at Berry College (100 Match Point Way, Rome GA 30185, phone 706-236-4490).
        Langa and Wheatley qualified for the second straight year, this time after a 6-2, 6-2 victory against William Carey's top-seeded Tiffany Chang and Sunny Logan in the title match of the NAIA Gulf ITA Regional Championships Sept. 29 at XULA. Also qualifying from XULA were Amira Bergaoui in women's singles — she won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in her regional final against top-seeded Lucy Carpenter of city rival Loyola — and Manuel Arias and Nereo Suarez, the men's doubles regional champion after defeating Our Lady of the Lake's third-seeded David Ekpenyong and Jaroslav Majsajdr 7-5, 1-6, [10-4].
        XULA's first-round Thursday pairings (times Eastern Daylight):
        •  12:30 p.m. — Bergaoui vs. SCAD Atlanta's second-seeded Shalimar Talbi.
        •  5 p.m. — Langa/Wheatley vs. Lindsey Wilson's Aina Bernabeu and Mariangeles Mateu.
        •  5 p.m. — Arias/Suarez vs. top-seeded Perry Gregg and Luca McManus of Holy Cross (Ind.)
