HAWKINS, Texas — Xavier University of
Louisiana pulled away in the second half Saturday for an 81-60 Red River Athletic Conference m
en's basketball victory against Jarvis Christian.
It was the fourth consecutive victory
for the Gold Rush (15-4 overall, 11-3 RRAC) and the eighth this season in nine
games on opponents' courts.
Lance Williams scored 20 points and
TJ Jones 18 for the Gold Rush, and
J'Quan Ewing and
DJ Morgan scored 10 apiece.
Ewing grabbed 15 rebounds in his fifth consecutive double-double.
XULA led 37-33 at halftime,
then won the second half 44-27.
XULA shut down a Jarvis Christian team
that averaged 85 points in its three previous home games.
The Bulldogs are 9-11 overall, 7-9 RRAC.
There was no change at the top of
the RRAC standings because the top four teams won. XULA is in third place;
LSU-Alexandria leads at 13-2, Texas College is second at 12-3,
and LSU-Shreveport is fourth at 11-4.
Next for XULA will be a 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday RRAC home game against North American at the Convocation Center.
It will be a doubleheader; the XULA and NAU women will tip off at 5:30.
