2024 Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer standings
METAIRIE, La. — Spring Hill
scored in the third and 56th minutes Saturday and held on for a 2-1 women's soccer
victory against Xavier University of Louisiana at Lafreniere Park.
The Badgers, an NCAA Division II member, played the game as a scrimmage
— you won't find the game in their results or statistics — but the NAIA-member Gold Nuggets
(0-3) counted it as a regular-season game.
Spring Hill struck first on Poppy Binding's goal at 42:41 of the first half,
then made it 2-0 when Ellie King scored at 34:15 of the second half.
XULA closed the gap when newcomer
Samira Roper
scored with 31:18 remaining — All-American
Luci Schroeder assisted —
but the Gold Nuggets managed only three shots, none on goal, thereafter.
The Gold Nuggets will play their next three on the road.
Next will be a 5 p.m. Saturday game at the University of Mobile. XULA's next home game will kick off
at 1 p.m. against Red River Athletic Conference opponent North American
Sept 28 at Lafreniere. Admission is free to all XULA home soccer games.
XULA's RRAC opener will be Sept. 19 against Southwest in Hobbs, N.M.
