Try to remember this kind of September: Gold Nuggets 4-0, all by shutout

2024 Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer standings

METAIRIE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana women's soccer closed a sterling September — four games, four shutout victories — with an 8-0 Red River Athletic Conference decision Saturday against North American at Lafreniere Park.
The Gold Nuggets (4-3 overall, 3-0 RRAC) outscored opponents 33-0 during September.
XULA scored four times in the first 19 minutes, led 6-0 at halftime — a program record for first-half goals at home — and kept pace with LSU-Shreveport and Texas A&M-Texarkana, both 4-0 in the Red River. The Gold Nuggets' next two opponents will be LSUS and TAMUT, both on the road.
Lanettia Aikens scored twice, and Shakiana Dagher, Julia de Souza, Maureen Owusu, Samira Roper, Luci Schroeder and Amelia Thompson had the other goals. Theresa Wiesiolek and Luisa Bella split the goalkeeping time.
"The key is communication," said Dagher, a defender, of XULA's shutout streak. "Talk, talk, talk."
Aikens became the ninth Gold Nugget in two varsity seasons to produce a multi-goal game.
XULA will visit LSUS Thursday and TAMUT Saturday. Kickoff will be 1 p.m. for both. Like XULA, the Eagles are receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll.
        In other RRAC games Saturday:
        •  Louisiana Christian won 6-0 at home against Paul Quinn.
        •  LSUS won 2-0 at Huston-Tillotson.
        •  Texas A&M-Texarkana won 4-1 at Houston-Victoria.
        •  Texas A&M-San Antonio won 7-0 at home against Texas College.
        •  LSU-Alexandria won 3-1 at home against Southwest (N.M.)
        •  Our Lady of the Lake won 1-0 at home against Jarvis Christian.
