Iman Ouedraogo tacked on two more goals Thursday for NAIA No. 18 Xavier University of Louisiana, and goalkeeper
Breno Zanolla produced another shutout against Texas A&M-San Antonio in a 4-0 Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer victory.
The Gold Rush (5-1-1 overall, 2-0 Red River) led 2-0 after goals by Ouedraogo in the second and fifth minutes, and
Giancarlo Dostilio made it 3-0 in the eighth minute.
Antonio Merola, who assisted on Ouedraogo's second goal, scored on a penalty kick in the 69th minute.
Ouedraogo, in his first XULA season after transferring from two-year Arizona Western College, has eight goals, six assists and 22 points overall. Ouedraogo leads the Red River in points, is tied for first in assists and is second in goals.
Merola is tied for third in the conference with five assists.
Zanolla had three saves and worked his 22nd career shutout. XULA is 3-0 all-time against TAMUSA, all by shutout with Zanolla in goal. Zanolla leads the Red River with a goals-against average of 0.71.
TAMUSA is 5-1-1 and 2-1. The Gold Rush ended the Jaguars' 11-game (7-0-4) home unbeaten streak. TAMUSA had not lost at home since 3-0 to XULA on Oct. 14, 2023.
XULA became the first opponent to reach four goals at TAMUSA since the Jaguars' debut season in 2021.
The Gold Rush will remain in San Antonio for a 3:30 p.m. Saturday kickoff against RRAC member Our Lady of the Lake.
