John Orgah lifted NAIA No. 18 Xavier University of Louisiana to a 3-0
Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer victory Saturday against Our Lady of the Lake.
The Gold Rush (6-1-1 overall, 3-0 Red River)
kept pace with conference co-leaders LSU-Alexandria and LSU-Shreveport, both
4-0 in the league.
Pacheco, a sophomore defender,
broke the deadlock with a goal — his first of the season —
in the 67th minute.
Iman Ouedraogo's penalty kick in the 84th minute made it 2-0,
and Orgah closed the scoring in the 87th minute.
XULA is 6-0 this season when Ouedraogo scores.
Ouedraogo shares the Red River lead with nine goals this season, and he's tied for 18th in the NAIA.
Antonio Merola assisted on Pacheco's goal to move
into a tie for the Red River lead in season assists with six. The other leaders are Ouedraogo and
Jack Thomas of LSUS.
It was the second time in three games
that a XULA opponent did not produce a shot on goal.
Breno Zanolla was in goal for his 23rd career XULA shutout.
XULA has won three straight and five of its last six games.
The Saints (2-7-2, 1-3) lost their second in a row and for the fifth time in six games.
The Gold Rush will play a pair of 3:30 p.m.
