METAIRIE, La. — Sacha Chindiwo's
first goal of the season was the only score Thursday in Texas A&M-Texarkana's
1-0 Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer upset of NAIA No. 20 Xavier University of Louisiana
at Lafreniere Park.
Chindiwo scored in the 76th minute
after a left-side pass from Diego Picano. It was TAMUT's only shot of the second half.
Overall XULA had advantages of 24-5 in shots
and 10-3 in shots on goal. The Eagles had 10 saves, two by winning goalkeeper
David Yearwood, who played the final 21 minutes after starter Oliver Gregory was injured.
The Eagles (4-4-4 overall, 3-2 RRAC)
ended the 13-game home winning streak of the Gold Rush (6-2-1, 3-1).
This is XULA's third varsity season, and the Gold Rush are 17-2 all-time at home.
The other home defeat was 2-1 to A&M-Victoria in 2023.
