METAIRIE, La. —
Iman Ouedraogo broke the Xavier University of Louisiana men's soccer
record for goals in a season, and the Gold Rush won 3-0 Thursday
against Louisiana Christian in a Red River Athletic Conference game at Lafreniere Park.
Ouedraogo — a junior forward in his first
season at XULA — gave the Gold Rush a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.
It was Ouedraogo's 13th goal, which surpassed the previous Gold Rush record
of 12 by
Gustavo Oliveira, who reached that total in 2023 and 2024.
Guilherme Domingues scored in the 55th minute,
and
Ignacio Solorza scored in the 69th. Winning goalkeeper was
Breno Zanolla,
who is 32-10-5 in three XULA seasons with 26 shutouts, eight this year.
The Gold Rush (9-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 conference, ranked 21st in the NAIA)
will visit Red River leader LSU-Shreveport (11-0-5, 9-0, ranked 11th) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
LSUS, playing at home, scored three times in the first 20 minutes of a 4-0 victory against second-place LSU-Alexandria.
The Generals are 7-1-1 in conference.
The Wildcats are 4-7-1 and 2-5-1.
