Ouedraogo sets Gold Rush season goals record; NAIA No. 21 XULA shuts out Wildcats

METAIRIE, La. — Iman Ouedraogo broke the Xavier University of Louisiana men's soccer record for goals in a season, and the Gold Rush won 3-0 Thursday against Louisiana Christian in a Red River Athletic Conference game at Lafreniere Park.
Ouedraogo — a junior forward in his first season at XULA — gave the Gold Rush a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. It was Ouedraogo's 13th goal, which surpassed the previous Gold Rush record of 12 by Gustavo Oliveira, who reached that total in 2023 and 2024.
Guilherme Domingues scored in the 55th minute, and Ignacio Solorza scored in the 69th. Winning goalkeeper was Breno Zanolla, who is 32-10-5 in three XULA seasons with 26 shutouts, eight this year.
The Gold Rush (9-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 conference, ranked 21st in the NAIA) will visit Red River leader LSU-Shreveport (11-0-5, 9-0, ranked 11th) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. LSUS, playing at home, scored three times in the first 20 minutes of a 4-0 victory against second-place LSU-Alexandria. The Generals are 7-1-1 in conference.
The Wildcats are 4-7-1 and 2-5-1.
