SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana and Our Lady of the Lake played to a scoreless tie Saturday in Red River Athletic Conference women's soccer.
It's the first scoreless tie for the Gold Nuggets (4-2-2 overall, 3-0-1 Red River), a third-year varsity program.
XULA produced five shots, a season low, with two of them on goal. OLLU goalkeeper London Suarez saved shots by Juliana Kottbauer in the 21st minute and Jayda Wyatt in the 28th. The Gold Nuggets' final opportunity was in the 80th minute, when Kottbauer was wide right from 25 yards away.
XULA goalkeeper Luisa Bella notched her second consecutive shutout, her third this season and the seventh of her career. Bella had three saves, the final one in the 48th minute.
It was the second straight season that XULA and OLLU tied.
LSU-Shreveport, 4-0 in the conference, took sole possession of first place. Texas A&M-Texarkana also lost a share of the lead because of a 1-all tie at home against A&M-Victoria. LSUS won 12-1 at home against Texas College.
