The XULA women's soccer team learned Friday night that its 2025 visit to the NAIA national tournament will begin in the Magnolia with a first-round matchup against Campbellsville (Ky.) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Host team William Carey awaits the winner of the Gold Nuggets and Tigers match. The second-round contest will take place on Nov. 22. This marks the third consecutive year that Xavier has been placed in the Hattiesburg Regional.
"We're going back to familiar territory," head coach Ashley Cordeiro said. "We are looking forward to facing a new opponent we haven't played before. Campbellsville have had some really good results this season and have proved they also belong on the national stage, so it is a matchup we are excited to face."
Xavier, which just won its second consecutive RRAC tournament title, enters the contest with an 11-2-4 record. Campbellsville, which plays in the Mid-South Conference, has a record of 11-8 and recently lost by a single goal to Cumberlands (Ky.) in the MSC tournament final.
The Tigers average just over 2 goals per game and have surrendered an average of 1.5.
Nine Campbellsville players have scored 3 or more goals on the year, with Fiona Jolly scoring a team-high 6. Bethin Boyle (5 goals, 3 assists) have been the Tigers' most prolific offensive weapon.
Xavier's offense ranks among the best in the nation. The Gold Rush have averaged north of 4 goals per game while allowing just under 1.
Samira Roper has led the way with a jaw-dropping 25 goals and 3 assists. Juliana Kottbauer and Anita Roese have added 7 goals apiece, with Kottbauer adding a team-high 10 assists.
