OKLAHOMA CITY — Xavier University of Louisiana competitive cheer finished second out of four teams Saturday in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship at Abe Lemons Arena.
XULA competed twice — the second performance counted for 75 percent of the final score — and finished with 90.15 points out of a possible 100. Oklahoma City's 91.82 won the meet and earned the Stars an automatic bid to NAIA nationals March 28-29 at Ypsilanti, Mich.
Our Lady of the Lake and Langston also competed.

XULA entered the Sooner meet No. 4 out of 71 NAIA teams with an average score of 91.93. The Gold were one of four teams averaging 90-or-more points per performance. In the most recent ARC (Area Ranking Committee) Ratings, XULA was No. 1 in its grouping, and Oklahoma City was No. 2.
XULA is 19-1 against all opponents through three meets this season.
The NAIA will announce qualifying teams for nationals — including at-large bids — March 17.
