Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

XULA suffers close loss to No. 18 UT Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. - XULA Women's Soccer battled until the end but came up a goal short here Saturday, falling 1-0 to No. 18 UT Southern, the team that currently sits atop the Southern States Athletic Conference.

The loss snapped a 10-match unbeaten streak for the Gold Nuggets (10-3-2, 9-1-1 SSAC), but there were still many positives.

Xavier's defense mostly contained a Firehawk offense that had scored multiple goals in 12 of its 14 matches.

UT Southern (13-1-1, 11-0-0 SSAC) got off 18 shots, 6 of which were on goal, while the Gold Nuggets had 8 shots with 1 on goal.

Freshman keeper Aylin Yildirim took the loss but finished with 5 saves.

Xavier gets a six-day break before hitting the road again for another showdown with a top-25 opponent. On Oct. 24, the Gold Nuggets visit No. 10 William Carey at 1:30 p.m.

This will be another massive SSAC contest, as William Carey currently sits in second place and Xavier third in the conference.
