Robinson earns SSAC Player of Week honors

It did not take long for graduate student and newcomer Faith Robinson to make her mark on both XULA Women's Basketball and the Southern States Athletic Conference. The SSAC announced Monday that Robinson had been named the first Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the season following her amazing debut for the Gold Nuggets.

Technically, Robinson won two awards as she was named both the SSAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

Robinson, a 5-foot-10 forward, posted a pair of doubles in Xavier's weekend action at the Eagle Classic hosted by Texas A&M Texarkana. She averaged 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting a combined 63 percent from the field in wins over the host team and Florida's Ave Maria. She also added three blocks and 11 defensive boards to snag the Defensive Player of the Week prize.

While this was Robinson's first career honor at XULA and in the SSAC, she is no stranger to accolades. She was a multiple-time honoree and all-conference performer while at Jarvis Christian, which at the time was a member of the Red River Athletic Conference.

Robinson is a native of West Monroe, Louisiana, and a graduate of West Monroe High.
