Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

XULA cruises to 10-0 win over Wesleyan

METAIRIE, La. - The Xavier women's soccer team logged is second straight blowout win in Lefreniere Park Saturday, posting a double-digit, 10-0 win against SSAC opponent Wesleyan.

For the seventh time in the past 48 hours, XULA (7-2-2, 6-0-1 SSAC) got a record result. Six team and individual records were matched or broken in a win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Thursday night.

On Saturday, Maureen Owusu tied the school mark for most assists in a match with 4, a number that equaled the output of Shakiana Dagher in a match against North American in 2025 and Anita Roese against ABAC on Thursday.

Julia Gurgel, who on Thursday set the new school record for most goals in a game, scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute with an assist from Paula Cortijo. It was a conference-best game-winning goal for Gurgel.

Nine more goals followed as the Gold Nuggets put 23 shots on goal and got hat tricks from both Gurgel, with 3 goals, and Juliana Kottbauer, who had 4 goals and an assist on the day. Kottbauer's goal total matched the mark for second-most in program history.

Xavier's other goals came from Eduarda Queiroz, who scored a brace, and Alba Mendez.

Beyond Owusu and Kottbauer, the Gold Nuggets also got a pair of assists from Cortijo and an assist apiece from Gurgel, Queiroz, and Anita Roese.

Defensively, Xavier held its second consecutive opponent to no shots, and goalkeeper Luisa Bella posted a clean sheet.

XULA returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 8, with another conference home match. The Gold Rush will welcome Andrew College at 1 p.m. in Lefreniere Park for the team's annual Pink Day match. Stay tuned to XULAGold.com and Xavier Athletics socials for more information.
