NEW ORLEANS - The Gold Nuggets blazed their way to a win Saturday, defeating Red River Athletic Conference opponent LSU-Shreveport 4-0. 

Xavier (11-5, 2-0 RRAC), currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, got the doubles point with a pair of 6-0 wins. 

Maja Brnic and McKenna Wheatley, the No. 3 pair in the NAIA, defeated Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot and Lidia Gomez at No. 1, and Ana Sabikova and Makai Sales defeated Sara Sofia Sanchez Molano and Lucia Lucas at No. 2. 

In the singles matches, the Gold Nuggets won three matches fairly quickly, and the other matches were abandoned when it became mathematically impossible for XULA to lose. 

Wheatley defeated Mandrot 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1, Sabikova defeated Gomez 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, and Laura Lopez defeated Christlyn Ross 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. 

Xavier's women return to action Wednesday with a 2 p.m. home match against St. Thomas (Fla.).
