The XULA Gold Co-Ed Competitive Cheer team is t-minus 5 days away from bidding for a national championship.
This week, the Gold travel to Topeka, Kansas, to participate in the NAIA's 10th Annual Cheer and Dance National Championship. The event, which is hosted by Visit Topeka, Inc. and Baker University, is scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the Stormont Vail Events Center.
Xavier enters the meet as one of eight automatic qualifiers, having won the Southern States Athletic Conference championship comfortably earlier this month.
In total, 15 schools will compete, with XULA scheduled to perform 13th in the preliminary rounds, which begin Friday at 4 p.m.
The finals start on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The official, detailed schedule for the championship has not yet been released, but it will be available on the NAIA website soon.
Joining XULA at the championship will be fellow SSAC members Florida Memorial and Tennessee Southern, as well as Baker (Kan.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Lourdes (Ohio), Indiana Wesleyan, St. Ambrose (Iowa), Saint Mary (Kan.), Northwestern (Iowa), Cumberlands (Ky.), Madonna (Mich.), Missouri Valley, Taylor (Ind.), and Oklahoma City.
Fans can watch live via the NAIA, or can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster if they wish to attend in person.
