NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
will have four seeded singles players and three seeded doubles teams in the
ITA NAIA South Regional Championships Presented by Oracle, a three-day tournament which will
begin Friday at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville.
XULA has three men's singles seeds.
Karan Salwan is third,
Thomas Setodji is fourth, and
Tushar Mandlekar is eighth. Both men's doubles teams
were seeded — Setodji and Salwan are second, and Mandlekar and Albrecht are fourth.
Both Gold Rush doubles teams won their brackets this past week at the HBCU National Championships
in College Park, Ga., and Setodji and Mandlekar were singles runners-up. XULA repeated as men's team champion.
In the women's brackets, XULA's
Charlene Goreau is seeded
third in singles, and the doubles team of
Emma Kranendonk and
Lacee Ancar is fourth.
First to compete Friday for XULA will be the women's doubles teams
of
Sha'Nel Bruins and
Dasia Harris, Goreau and
Whitney Vilmaure and
Brandi Nelson and
Lyndsey Clark. All will play at 8 a.m. EDT.
The Weather Channel's online site predicts
a 10-percent of rain Saturday in Lawrenceville, with dry conditions the
other two days. High temperatures will range from 88 Friday to 91 Saturday.
The South Regional returns to Georgia after three consecutive years in New Orleans
with XULA as the host.
