Gold Rush open 2020 with 6-1 home victory against city rival Loyola

     NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana men's tennis, the NAIA national runner-up three of the last four seasons, opened 2020 with a 6-1 home victory Saturday against city rival Loyola.
     Santiago Perez, Shaikh Abdullah and Guillermo Coiras won in doubles and singles for the Gold Rush. Juan Batalla and Samir Chikhaoui earned singles victories, and Sebastian Perez — Santiago's brother — teamed with Coiras in doubles.
     XULA's men and women will play host to Mississippi College of NCAA Division II at noon Saturday.
