Xavier University of Louisiana men's tennis did something familiar Tuesday to snap
its four-match losing streak.
XULA stayed home, won every set and defeated Spring Hill
7-0 to improve its home win streak to 14. XULA hasn't lost at home since April 12, 2018.
Jered Wilson,
Santiago Perez,
Shaikh Abdullah,
Juan Ramirez and
Juan Varon won in singles and doubles. Wilson, a freshman,
earned his first clinch for XULA with his 6-2, 7-5 victory against Nicolas Bettignie at No. 5 singles.
Perez and Abdullah clinched the doubles point on the first court with their 6-4 victory against
Cedric Nitz and Charles Wallace.
Spring Hill, an NCAA Division II member and a former
XULA rival in the NAIA's Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, is 2-5.
Next for XULA will be a 2 p.m. Friday home
match against NAIA No. 24 Lewis-Clark State, then two matches at Pensacola, Fla.:
1 p.m. Saturday against NAIA No. 2 Keiser and 1 p.m. Sunday against NCAA Division II No. 3
West Florida. XULA is ranked 10th in the NAIA.
