NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana, ranked 11th in NAIA men's tennis, defeated Rust 7-0 Saturday to win at home for the 17th consecutive time and the 38th time in its last 41 home matches.
Overall XULA is 8-8 this season and has won three straight. It's the first time the XULA men have been at .500 or better since Feb. 19.
Shaikh Abdullah and Megh Patel won in doubles and singles. Abdullah clinched the dual with his victory against Kris Huntsman. Winning for the first time this season in singles was Uriah Miller on court five.
If Alan Green, XULA's head coach and director of tennis, doesn't schedule another home match, his men will have finished the season unbeaten at XULA Tennis Center for the third consecutive season. XULA is 5-0 at home this year.
XULA's men and women will play multiple matches next week in Indiana against ranked NAIA opponents.
