Shaikh Abdullah and 
Juan Varon won third-set super tiebreakers Friday 
  to help Xavier University of Louisiana pull away for a 4-2 men's tennis victory 
	against Union (Ky.) in the IWU Invitational.
	
	        XULA, 10-8 and ranked 11th in the NAIA, won its fifth in a row
 and defeated a top-10 opponent for the first time this season. Union (7-5) is ranked eighth.
        Union's Mihailo Radosavlijev defeated 
Megh Patel 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10)
 to tie the dual at 2. But Abdullah put XULA ahead to stay with his 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5)
  victory against Simon Campos, and Varon clinched for the second consecutive day
	 when he defeated Sergio Lizzarga 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).
 
         Abdullah is 9-0 in his last 10 singles matches.
	 
	         Varon and teammate 
Santiago Perez won in doubles 
	  and singles. Varon and 
Juan Ramirez clinched the doubles point with their 7-6 (7-5)
		victory against Campos and Radosavlijev. Perez and his brother, Sebastian, beat
		 Sebastiano Zorzi and Pablo Merino 6-4, then Perez defeated Zorzi 6-1, 6-0.
	
	        Wet weather forced XULA indoors for the second
	 consecutive day. XULA is scheduled to play two NAIA top-10 teams Saturday at 
	 Indiana Wesleyan's Sutter Tennis Center: No. 4 Cardinal Stritch at 11 a.m. 
	 and No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Times are Eastern. The weather forecast: 90-percent chance of rain and a high of 68 degrees.
