NEW ORLEANS —
Yhann Plummer earned Xavier University of Louisiana's fourth Louisiana Coach of the Year
honor of the past month when he was cited Thursday on the All-Louisiana women's cross country team.
The Louisiana Sports Writers Association
sponsors the team, which is based on the fastest individual times during the season.
A panel of college cross country publicists selects the four major awards.
The team and major awards normally are announced in December, but cross country
became a two-semester sport this time because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Plummer won this LSWA award for
the second time in his three seasons at XULA. In November Plummer won his third consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
women's team title in as many attempts and his third GCAC Coach of the Year award.
The GCAC team title was the 14th in a
row for the Gold Nuggets, and it occurred during a rebuilding season —
freshmen
Jalyn Jenkins and
Reagan Collins finished 1-3 at the GCAC meet one year after seniors
Taylor Price and Maliya Vaughan finished 1-2.
On June 1
Pat Kendrick was announced as
Louisiana Co-Coach of the Year in volleyball, and
Alan Green shared the state
coaching honor in men's and women's tennis May 28. The four state coaching awards in 2020-21
match a one-year high for XULA, which also accomplished that in 2008-09.
XULA won 28 Louisiana Coach of the Year honors from the LSWA during
the last 18 seasons.
