LAFAYETTE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana, ranked 10th in the NAIA men's tennis,
opened its spring-semester schedule Saturday with a 4-3 exhibition victory
against Tyler Junior College, then a 4-0 loss to NCAA Division I Louisiana-Lafayette.
Against Tyler — 13-0 and the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association champion

Megh Patel won in doubles and singles.
Guillermo Coiras and
Dedric Ray clinched the doubles point,
and Patel clinched the dual with his 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-5) victory against Alvaro Saint Martin at No. 3 singles.
Jacobi Bain won his singles match against Tyler's Mika Fisher
in straight sets — Bain won the first-set tiebreaker 18-16.
Against the Ragin' Cajuns, XULA three-year All-American
Santiago Perez led his No. 1 singles match 6-6 (3-0) against Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez
when the Cajuns clinched.
Both XULA teams will play at home at 3 p.m. Friday
against city rival Dillard, which is playing tennis for the first time since 2005.
