        ROME, Ga. — Xavier University of Louisiana's Jacobi Bain lost 6-4, 6-3 Friday against Georgia Gwinnett's second-seeded Alex Gurmendi in the main-draw quarterfinals of NAIA men's singles at the ITA Cup tennis championships.
        XULA's other men's singles entry, Mathieu Strauss, lost 6-3, 6-1 in the consolation bracket to Keiser's Martin Carrizo.
        Bain and Strauss will play consolation matches at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday — Bain against Keiser's Soufiane El Mesbahi, Strauss against Lindsey Wilson's Jan Silhavy.
