        ROME, Ga. — Xavier University of Louisiana's Jacobi Bain earned his second singles victory in three days at the ITA Cup tennis championships — a 6-2, 7-5 decision Saturday against Keiser's Soufiane El Mesbahi.
        El Mesbahi was 27th, and Bain was unranked in the ITA NAIA end-of-season singles rankings of 2021-22.
        The other Gold Rush singles entry, Mathieu Strauss, lost 7-5, 6-2 to Lindsey Wilson's Jan Silhavy. Strauss, a freshman, finished 0-3 at the ITA Cup. Silhavy ranked 26th at the end of 2021-22.
        XULA has two more fall tournaments. The men and women will compete next Friday and Saturday in New Orleans at the Dillard Invitational, and the women will compete Nov. 4-5 at the LSU-Shreveport Invitational.
