NEW ORLEANS — Tougaloo rallied twice Sunday to sweep a baseball doubleheader and win
a three-game season-opening series against Xavier University of Louisiana
at Wesley Barrow Stadium. The Bulldogs won 10-7 in the opener after trailing 4-0 through three innings,
then won the finale 7-3 after trailing 3-1 through three innings.
XULA beat Tougaloo 14-3 Saturday and won all five 2021 meetings with the Bulldogs.
Courtland Posey had five hits and five RBIs for XULA in the doubleheader,
including a two-run homer in the first game.
In 2021 — XULA's first season of baseball since
1960 — the Gold Rush played twice in one day 15 times and were swept only once.
The Gold Rush, playing seven in a row at home to open the season,
will play Stillman in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Barrow.
