NEW ORLEANS — Right-hander
 Andre
Beaudoin made his Xavier University of Louisiana baseball debut with seven
strikeouts in four shutout innings, and D'Aires
Davis hit a three-run homer to help
the Gold Rush defeat Stillman 6-3 and gain a split of a doubleheader Tuesday.

Stillman rallied late to win the first game — the Tigers' season opener — 6-3.

Davis reached base safely six times in the doubleheader
and was 4-for-4 in stolen bases. Zachary
Elias had three hits for XULA (2-3),
including a bases-empty homer in the seventh game of the opener.

XULA's next competition was to be a home doubleheader next Tuesday against Morehouse,
but the teams agreed to cancel at Morehouse's request. The Gold Rush will next play Feb. 18-19 at Austin, Texas,
in a three-game Red River Athletic Conference series against Huston-Tillotson.
