Coaches poll of March 16, 2022
NEW ORLEANS — For the first time in 10 polls dating to last season, Xavier University of Louisiana is in the top five in the NAIA men's tennis coaches poll.
The Gold Rush (10-4) are No. 5 and climbed two places from two weeks ago.
It's XULA's 119th consecutive appearance in the top 25. That is the longest active streak in NAIA men's tennis; it began April 4, 2007.
XULA is in the top 10 for the 89th time in the last 92 polls.
This was the fourth poll of the season. Additional polls will be announced March 30, April 13, April 27 and May 25.
Next for XULA's men and women will be 3 p.m. Friday home duals against Dillard — the matches were moved to XULA Tennis Center because Dillard's home facility is not ready for collegiate competition — and 10 a.m. Saturday duals at West Florida, whose men are ranked 17th and women are unranked in NCAA Division II. Missouri State of NCAA Division I, citing illness, bowed out of a recently arranged 9 a.m. Friday women's match against the Gold Nuggets at XULA.
