        NEW ORLEANS — 
 Xavier University of Louisiana's 
Megh Patel saved four match points 
  in the second set Monday and rallied to defeat Espen Lagarde 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-2 
	and clinch a 4-3 men's tennis victory at the University of New Orleans.
 
	
        Patel won 11 of the final 13 games 
 after trailing 5-2 in the second set. 
 
        
Santiago Perez — No. 1 in the ITA NAIA rankings 
 — 
Jacobi Bain and 
Juan Varon also won in singles for the Gold Rush, 12-5 and ranked fifth in the NAIA.
 It was the first time in four years that the Gold Rush won four singles matches against a Division I opponent.
 
 
         Perez's 6-4, 6-3 victory against Marcel Volz gave XULA its
  first lead at 3-2. UNO's Max Heinzel tied the dual by beating 
Juan Ramirez 4-6, 6-3, 6-4,
	 then Patel won to give the XULA men their fifth victory in their last seven duals against UNO.
	 
        "I'm proud of our guys and how they competed today. This was a total team win," 
  19th-year XULA head coach 
Alan Green said. 
	"We finally fought through a match against a good team and won when the matches
	 were close."
 
         UNO, an NCAA Division I member, is 12-4.
 
         Next for the Gold Rush will be a home match April 2 
  at noon against NAIA No. 6 William Carey at XULA Tennis Center.
