TEXARKANA, Texas —
Xavier University of Louisiana split a Red River Athletic Conference baseball
doubleheader Friday at Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Gold Rush won the opener 10-8, then lost 10-0.
Deionte Norris,
Courtland Posey,
Co Co Simoneaux and
Matt Muhleisen drove in all the XULA runs.
Norris and Posey had three RBIs apiece, and Simoneaux and Muhleisen had two RBIs apiece.
Posey hit a two-run triple, and Simoneaux hit a two-run single during a six-run first inning.
Norris hit a two-run single in the second inning and recorded the final two outs as a relief pitcher to earn a save.
The Eagles' Marcos Moreno pitched a
one-hitter — Posey hit a second-inning infield single — in the second game,
which was halted in the seventh inning because of the 10-run rule.
The Gold Rush won 2-of-3 games from the Eagles and won
an RRAC series for the fourth time this season and the third time on the road.
XULA is 15-17 overall and 11-12 in the RRAC; Texas A&M-Texarkana is 25-17 and 15-9.
Next for the Gold Rush will be a three-game RRAC home
series April 15-16 against Our Lady of the Lake at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
