NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana announced Wednesday the hiring of Ashley Cordeiro as women's soccer head coach.
        Cordeiro coached the women of Pratt (Kan.) Community College to a 23-5-3 (.790) record the past two seasons and, in 2022, the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Region VI championship and a No. 14 national ranking.
        The debut season of XULA women's soccer will be 2023. The Gold Nuggets will compete for honors in the Red River Athletic Conference and the NAIA. XULA will field the first women's varsity team in New Orleans since Loyola in 2006 and Tulane in 2005.
