LONGVIEW, Texas —
Xavier University of Louisiana men's soccer earned its fifth shutout victory
in the last six games, a 2-0 Red River Athletic Conference decision Thursday against Texas College.
The Gold Rush (7-1 overall, 6-0 RRAC)
have won seven straight. XULA will stay on the road
and visit RRAC opponent Jarvis Christian at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
XULA got goals from
Leonardo Menzen and
Caleb Evans, and winning goalkeeper
Francisco Pinochet played all 90 minutes, facing
three shots and one shot on goal. The shutout victory was XULA's second on the road.
Menzen scored in the 29th minute, and XULA led 1-0
at halftime. Evans scored in the 65th minute with an assist from
Nicolas Kuwae.
Joining Evans, Menzen and Pinochet in XULA's starting lineup were

XULA shares first place in the RRAC with
Louisiana Christian, a 4-0 winner at Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Texas College (0-7, 0-6) was shut out
for the fourth consecutive game.
Coupled with the Gold Nuggets'
16-0 victory against Texas College,
it's the second time this season that both XULA teams won by shutout the same day — the first time on the road.
This is XULA's first season of varsity soccer.
