AUSTIN, Texas —
Xavier University of Louisiana rallied from a three-run deficit for a 7-5 victory
against Huston-Tillotson that gave the Gold Rush a split of their Red River Athletic
Conference baseball doubleheader Friday.
The Rams won the opener 9-0 in seven innings.
XULA (7-4 overall, 2-3 RRAC) and Huston-Tillotson
(4-8, 1-1) will meet at noon Saturday to conclude their three-game series.
The Gold Rush trailed 5-2 through
five innings before scoring twice in the sixth inning, once in the seven and twice in the
eighth.
Deionte Norris hit the game-winner, a two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Ryan Kinney pitched six innings in relief
to earn the second-game decision. Center fielder
D'Aires Davis and catcher
Skyler Roberts
combined on a game-ending double play.
Huston-Tillotson led 1-0 through five innings
of the first game, then pulled away with eight runs in the sixth inning. Luke Vizcarra
had four RBIs, and winning pitcher Brycen Lee allowed two hits in a complete game.
