NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana's
Damien Trahan, the high jump champion at the Pelican Relays
this past weekend, was selected Red River Athletic Conference
Athlete of the Week in men's field for April 3-9.
The RRAC announced Tuesday the award,
which is the first of Trahan's career.
Trahan — a junior from Lake Charles, La.,
and a graduate of Barbe High School —
jumped 2.05 meters/6 feet, 8 3/4 inches and produced a B-qualifying mark for NAIA nationals.
Trahan was 16th in the long jump with 5.86 meters/19 feet, 2 3/4 inches.
Trahan is tied for sixth on the 2023 NAIA men's outdoor season list
in the high jump.
NAIA nationals will be May 24-26 at Marion, Ind.
Next for XULA's men and women will be the Southeastern Strawberry Relays
Saturday at Hammond, La. Southeastern Track Complex will be the venue.
XULA opted out of the April 22 LSU Alumni Gold meet at Baton Rouge, La.
