NAIA women's soccer coaches poll of Oct. 23, 2024
NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's soccer continues its climb
in the NAIA coaches poll.
The Gold Nuggets (9-3-1 overall, 8-0-1 Red River Athletic Conference)
were tied for 29th Wednesday — a program record — in the sixth poll of the season.
XULA's 27 points in the newest poll also are a high for this second-year program.
It's the fourth consecutive time that
the XULA women reached their highest poll position ever.
XULA is the first Red River women's soccer team to receive
votes in the first six national polls of a season since former member St. Thomas (Texas) in 2018.
XULA won the
RRAC regular-season championship and reached the second round of NAIA nationals in 2023.
That team never received a vote in the coaches polls.
XULA, 9-0-1 in its last 10 games, will visit
RRAC opponents Houston-Victoria at 1 p.m. Thursday and Huston-Tillotson at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Gold Nuggets' next home game will start at 11 a.m. Oct. 31 against LSU-Alexandria at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, La.
All XULA home soccer games offer free admission.
Additional NAIA polls will be announced
Nov. 6 and Dec. 18.
