Lejaune George
ran 8,000 meters in 29 minutes, nine seconds Friday morning
to lead Xavier University of Louisiana men's cross country in the Loyola Invitational.
George placed sixth out of 29 runners.
George has been the fastest finisher for the Gold Rush 14 times in 15 career meets, including
the last nine.
Also competing for the Gold Rush
were
Skyler Madison, 12th in 30:16;
Jayden Bratton, 20th in 33:05;
Collin Wright, 22nd in 33:24;
Caydon Carpenter, 23rd in 33:42; and
David Morris, 28th in 44:13.
XULA scored 53 points to place second out of three teams.
City rival Loyola was first with 15 points, and another city rival, Dillard, placed third with 70.
Loyola's Drake Breland won in 26:51. The Wolf Pack
had 10 of the first 11 finishers.
Next for XULA will be the Watson Collegiate Classic Oct. 18 in Clinton, Miss.
The men will run 8,000 meters, and the race will start at 8 a.m.
