More upward mobility: 31st nationally, 18 points

NAIA women's soccer coaches poll of Oct. 9, 2024

NEW ORLEANS — For the third consecutive time, Xavier University of Louisiana women's soccer reached its highest position ever in the NAIA coaches poll.
The Gold Nuggets (6-3 overall, 5-0 Red River Athletic Conference) were 31st Wednesday in the fifth poll of the season. They were tied for 34th Sept. 25 and tied for 36th Sept. 11. XULA's 18 points in the newest poll also are a high for this second-year program.
Helping XULA climb were RRAC road victories last week against LSU-Shreveport (4-0 in RRAC pregame) and Texas A&M-Texarkana (9-0 overall, 5-0 RRAC pregame). XULA won 4-2 at LSUS and 1-0 at TAMUT.
XULA is the first Red River women's soccer team to receive votes in the first five national polls of a season since former member St. Thomas (Texas) in 2018.
XULA won the RRAC regular-season championship and reached the second round of NAIA nationals in 2023. That team never received a vote in the coaches polls.
XULA will play its next four games at home against RRAC opponents, starting with Texas College at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, La. The men of XULA and Texas College will meet at 3:30 p.m. All XULA home soccer games offer free admission.
Additional NAIA polls will be announced Oct. 23, Nov. 6 and Dec. 18.
