Gold Rush win at No. 1 doubles and singles, but Argonauts prevail

Results

        PENSACOLA, Fla. — Xavier University of Louisiana won matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles, but West Florida won everything else Saturday to grab a 6-1 men's tennis victory in a matchup of top-10 teams.
        The Gold Rush, ranked 10th in the NAIA, are 6-7. The Argonauts, ranked ninth in NCAA Division II, are 7-4 after their fifth consecutive victory.
        Jacobi Bain and Nereo Suarez, No. 8 in the ITA/NAIA doubles rankings, won 6-1 on the top line against Denilso Martinez and Sebastian Sotelo. Julius Hell won 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles against Bernardo Costa.
        Joaquin Estevez clinched for the Argonauts with his 6-4, 6-2 victory against Dedric Ray.
        XULA's men and women will play at home the next two days: 1 p.m. Sunday against SCAD Atlanta and 2 p.m. Monday against SCAD Savannah. The Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets will return to Florida next weekend for three matches apiece in the Miami area.
