The men of Xavier University of Louisiana increased their XULA Tennis Center
winning streak to 38 dual matches Monday with a 6-1 victory against SCAD Savannah.
The Gold Rush (7-7) are 6-0 at home this season
and have not lost on campus since April 12, 2018. The streak began six days later.
Jacobi Bain and
Nereo Suarez clinched
the doubles point for XULA with a 6-2 victory against Danil Ozernoy and David Lopez Cruz.
XULA won 5-of-6 singles matches, and
Ivan Vazquez clinched on court four when
he defeated Adam Jaupart 6-4, 6-2.
Vazquez and
Dedric Ray won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles
against Jaupart and Yu Dian Dong. Also winning in singles were Suarez, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2
on court two against Mark Tryakshin;
VanDer Woody, 6-2, 7-5 on court three
against Liam Stoica;
Artur Yakubov, 7-5, 6-3 against Dong on court five;
and
Jered Wilson, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) against Patricio Medrano on court six.
XULA is 10th in the NAIA coaches poll and 11th in the inaugural ITA NAIA computerized team rankings.
SCAD Savannah (3-6) is 20th in the coaches poll and 28th in the computer rankings.
XULA's men and women will play host to SCAD Atlanta
at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
